Ian Galliers new Chief Executive at Morris Property Ltd

Ian Galliers is taking on the role of Chief Executive of Morris Property Ltd, part of the Morris Company group of businesses, effective from November 2013.

Ian joined Morris Property as a consultant in August 2012, bringing with him considerable experience and talent and over the past fourteen months has been integral to developing the Contracting arm of the renowned family-owned Shropshire business.

The announcement comes on the back of news that Morris Property have recently been awarded a series of substantial construction contracts including a new production facility at Stadco in Telford; a new Renault car show room contract for Lookers in Chester and a £3.8 million minor injuries clinic in Tywyn for the Welsh Assembly Government.

Robin Morris, Chairman of Morris Property said:
“This is an exciting new venture, expanding our in-house capabilities to become main contractors and project managers for both private and public sector projects. With large projects underway such as the restoration works at Ruyton Manor and the new depot we are constructing at Weeping Cross for Shropshire Town Council, it is encouraging to see such rapid initial success building on our reputation as a long established property business. I am confident that Ian, with his drive and experience, will provide excellent leadership to build and develop this area of our business.”

Ian’s 35+ years within the construction and development industry saw him begin work at Frank Galliers Ltd at 17 where he learnt all the trades from bricklaying to joinery before moving into Quantity Surveying and Estimating. Ian was integral to Galliers’ successful sale in 2004 and since then has consulted on a wide range of high profile projects including spending a tour in Afghanistan where he masterminded a £32 million building project for the RAF in Kandahar.

“This is a motivating and appealing role for me. Not only can I draw on my varied experience but I feel particularly at home working within a family business as I enjoyed so many years working within my own family’s operation at Galliers.

I see real opportunity ahead as the construction sector opens up in the next couple of years and I am relishing the chance to secure more exciting projects through the expertise we have within this well funded and managed business here at Morris Property” commented Ian Galliers.
