Directors Role for FG Burnett Graduates

FG Burnett has appointed two new directors who started their careers as graduates with the business.

The Scottish commercial property experts said the promotions of Dan Smith and Jim Johnstone strengthened its management team and was part of its succession planning strategy.

Dan Smith joined the Aberdeen office eight years ago on completing an Msc in Property and Economics at Aberdeen University and as part of the Agency team he specialises in property acquisitions, disposals and lettings.

He was recently named the East of Scotland’s leading dealmaker for the second time by the property industry’s Estates Gazette in recognition of completing 40 transactions in the last year worth more than £14 million.

Jim Johnstone heads the Building Consultancy division and has been with the company 13 years, joining shortly after graduating in Building Surveying from The Robert Gordon University.

His team advise property owners and tenants on building surveys, planned maintenance inspections, dilapidations, insurance reinstatements and architectural services. The Building Consultancy team has also increased its focus on providing project monitoring of construction and refurbishment projects and in Construction Design & Management Co-ordination.

FG Burnett managing director, Angus MacCuish, said: “Dan and Jim both play critical roles in developing our business and maintaining our reputation at the top of the commercial property ladder and these promotions are in recognition of their important contribution since they first stepped across the threshold.

“The promotions will incentivise colleagues who can see that we value our younger staff and provide a worthwhile and rewarding career path, and it ensures our boardroom has a vibrant mix of experience, outlooks and opinions.”
