CW Fellowes thanks participants of charity mini triathlon

Business and tax specialist CW Fellowes thanked participants and supporters of The Rose Road Association’s Mini Triathlon held in Southampton recently. Many of the teams taking part had managed to raise in excess of £1,000 each, and with sponsorship money still coming in, Rose Road looks set to benefit from well over £10,000 worth of donations from the event.

One of the organisers of the Triathlon, CW Fellowes Director, Bruce Elkins said, “We were delighted with the eagerness from participants given that it was an extremely cold Sunday morning. People were registering with their winter coats on, in anticipation of cycling and running in wet clothing after the swim! Thankfully, they weren’t put off by the weather.”

“The enthusiasm of all participants and spectators on the day was incredible,” he said, noting that there were some novice swimmers, cyclists, and runners amongst the athletes. “It was inspirational to see them achieve the challenge.”

A total of 63 competitors took part in the event, which started with a 200m swim at 8.20 am in the morning. This was followed by a 7.5 mile cycle ride and finally a 2.5 mile run around a 400m marked track.

“The route for the run worked really well as it allowed supporters and team mates to encourage the others, as some participants were still on their first lap, while others were on their tenth” said Bruce.

The event was over by 10.30 am and was closed by an uplifting gesture that involved a team coming together to help their last member complete her final lap of the track, while onlookers clapped in encouragement.

Business and tax specialists, CW Fellowes are staunch supporters of The Rose Road Association, which works to help make a difference to the lives of local children with multiple and complex health needs.

“We would very much like to thank participants and spectators for taking part on the day, and for helping raise important funds that will be used to improve the lives of some very brave and deserving children,” said Bruce.
