Award-winning e-commerce fulfilment company purchases new Leicestershire HQ

Hallmark Consumer Services, a multi award-winning family owned business which specialises in providing e-commerce fulfilment services and innovative direct mail solutions, has invested £1.7 million to fund the purchase and bespoke refurbishment of a new headquarters, warehouse and depot in Melton Mowbray.

The company has purchased the 42,000 square foot facility on Melton Mowbray’s Saxby Road, following an 18-month search, assisted by property agents Mather Jamie, to identify suitable new premises to support its ongoing expansion, projected growth and new business pipeline.

The new premises, which are approximately seven acres, previously occupied by Asfordby Storage and Haulage, will heighten and realise overall business efficiency for the family-owned business, with its substantial warehouse and storage facilities large enough for existing client stock and activities, with room for expansion.

The facility doubles the amount of storage space for the company, further increasing Hallmark’s efficiency in picking, packing and despatching orders, creating additional space to handle and store larger items for its clients, as well as incorporating easy vehicular access for Hallmark’s growing logistics activities.

The move also heralds a job-creation exercise for Hallmark, with plans for eight new full-time positions; the company is looking to recruit eight new employees, including two apprenticeships, within the next few weeks, adding to its existing work force of fifty-five.

Hallmark specialises in e-commerce fulfilment services and innovative direct mail and works with a portfolio of new and growing businesses, leading blue chip and FMCG companies including Mars, Hornby Hobbies and Visa. They work extensively within the UK charities sector with clients such as Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UNICEF UK, and the Woodland Trust.

The company recently launched a Gift Wrapping and Gift Messaging Service in response to demand from its growing client base of online retailers and charities.

Hallmark has experienced record turnover for the last three years, with double-digit growth and sales turnover rising to over £5.3million, representing an increase of 89 percent over the three years since 2010.

In 2012 the company won the Fastest Growing Family Business of the Year Award in recognition of their sustained growth in turnover.
