Welsh Graduates Given Opportunity To Gain Experience at Paramount

Cardiff based office design and furniture specialist, Paramount Interiors, is providing three young Welsh students with the opportunity to gain valuable experience by working as part of its award winning team. The company has taken on three interns to work within its design, project management and business development departments for a period of 8 weeks over the summer months. They will be based at its recently opened ShowOffice in St Mellons.

Two of the interns have been recruited through the Go Wales scheme, which was established in 2003 by the Welsh Assembly to offer students and graduates in Wales the chance to gain paid, project-based work experience and to help them become more employable.

Joseff Smith, 19, a current Civil Engineering student at the University of Bristol has joined Paramount as an Assistant within its Project Management team and will be helping to deliver several major office fit-out projects.

Gareth Davies, 22, a recent first class honours graduate in Interior Design from the University of Glamorgan, joins as Assistant Interior Designer working alongside Paramount’s in-house Design team.

Also joining the company is 25 year old post-graduate, Iwan Jones, who holds a BA in Marketing Management and an MBA in Business Administration from Swansea University. Iwan, who is currently studying for his PGCE to become a business studies teacher, has already gained some work experience as a Marketing Assistant with a Swansea Based engineering company and has undertaken a marketing consultancy internship with Aberystwyth University. He will be working alongside Paramount’s Marketing and Business Development team to broaden his knowledge of the business environment.

Angie Scarrett, Marketing Manager at Paramount commented, “Here at Paramount we are very much focused on developing future-proof workplaces that will help companies attract and retain the next generation of workers.

We therefore wanted to provide an opportunity for some talented Welsh young people to work with us and for them to experience the type of collaborative and creative environment that we have created at our ShowOffice. We hope the experience they gain will serve them well in their future careers.”
