Extreme weather conditions tested teams to the utmost during this year’s gruelling St David’s Hospice Care’s Three Peaks of Wales Challenge.
A total of thirty teams took part in the challenge to scale three of Wales’ tallest peaks, Mount Snowdon, 1,085m(3,560ft), Cadair Idris, 893m (2,927 ft) and Pen-y-fan, 886m (2,907ft), all in a single day.
The winning team home in the fastest time was Knauf Krusaders (4hrs.16mins) second was Knauf Knohopers (5hrs.52mins) and third, Red Mist Ramblers (6hrs.17mins).
St David’s Hospice Care hope to have raised in excess of £20,000 for the charity through this year’s event.
The St David’s Hospice Care Three Peaks of Wales Challenge involves teams of four tackling the trio of Welsh mountains. The event is managed by Newport-based Seven Summits expeditions with main sponsors being Western Power Distribution who also enter teams in the annual event.

“Some organisations use it as a great team building exercise while others simply enjoy the thrill and immense satisfaction gained in conquering three of Wales’ most majestic peaks – while raising valuable funds for St David’s Hospice Care along the way. We are very grateful to all involved and the effort and pain, that they go through, to raise funds for St David’s Hospice Care in this gruelling event.”
