Insurance Broker launches Welsh commercial finance division

Leading Welsh insurance broker Jelf has launched its own commercial finance division to provide business with a new route to investment lending – the first provider in its sector to do so in Wales.

The division will offer property finance, invoice finance, vehicle finance, asset finance and a banking consultancy service from its regional headquarters in Cardiff.

Colin Hall-Tomkin, who worked for Barclays and the Bank of Ireland before joining Jelf, will be responsible for heading up the new and unique commercial finance division.

Colin said: “As market conditions become tougher for many industries, reducing costs takes on increasing importance. We are in a great position to be able to advise companies about their best options for finance, especially as we are independent providers and not tied in with any other financial institutions.

“One of the key services we will be offering clients, and potential clients, is a full, free, independent business banking review. More often than not people stick with their current institution because they wrongly think it’s the easiest option and don’t have the time to investigate alternatives. However, we can do a full evaluation of the options available and advise them of the best course.”

Julian Hilton, Jelf’s regional managing director in Wales, said: “This is a new direction for Jelf and one we are very excited about.

“Despite the government’s measures to increase lending to businesses, day to day companies are still finding it difficult to get finance. Colin’s considerable expertise and Jelf’s independence mean that we really are perfectly positioned to offer them the best possible advice for their business.”
