Willmott Dixon scoops ‘best in class’ accolade at industry awards

The contractor responsible for building the £14 million new Llandaff campus for Cardiff School of Art and Design has won a major industry award.

Willmott Dixon was named Building Magazine’s Major Contractor of the Year at its annual awards, the second time in three years it has achieved the prestigious accolade.

The award is one of the most sought-after prizes in construction, recognising a company’s quality and achievements in what has been a very difficult market in recent years for contractors.

Willmott Dixon is currently working on the £14 million campus, which will consist of a new 91,129 square foot building, as well as a complete refurbishment of the current accommodation, and will unify the School’s courses and research through consolidating the current Howard Garden and Llandaff campuses onto one single site. It is due for completion in September 2014 in time for the new academic year.

Neal Stephens, managing director of Willmott Dixon in Wales, said: “Building Magazine is a well-respected publication and we are thrilled to have won their Major Contractor of the Year prize for the second time in three years. This is down to the hard work of all our staff and operatives and we will strive to replicate these high standards in all our future projects.”
