Aureum expands in Maxim Park, Eurocentral

Maxim Park, Eurocentral has announced that Aureum Diagnostics Limited, a UK based life sciences company dedicated to biosafety testing for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, is expanding at Scotland’s largest business community.

Aureum, an innovative spin-out company founded by Professor Damion Corrigan of Strathclyde University and led by CEO Tessa Ogle, is on a mission to make advanced biosafety testing simple and affordable for the biopharmaceutical industry. Using electrochemistry-based platforms designed to be low cost and easy to use, the company is opening the door to faster, more reliable testing wherever it is needed.

Currently based at Maxim 1, Aureum DX will shortly move into a new 6,405 sq ft work space in Maxim 10, set in a prime location between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The relocation reflects a period of rapid growth for Aureum, whose Ebios™ platform is used for biosafety testing in biopharmaceutical manufacturing — screening therapies such as cell and gene treatments for contamination before they reach patients. Following the platform’s first commercial deployment with a major international biopharmaceutical customer, the company is scaling up from development into commercial supply. The move into Maxim 10 allows Aureum to build out a GMP-compliant manufacturing facility, designed to ensure products are consistently manufactured to the required quality, safety, and performance standards. The facility is backed by its ongoing Series A funding round, and to create a number of skilled life sciences jobs in Scotland as it grows its team across manufacturing, R&D and quality.

Tessa Ogle, CEO of Aureum, said: “Our expansion to Maxim 10 marks an exciting new chapter for the business. The new facility gives us the room to build out GMP manufacturing and scale up production as we move into commercial supply, supported by our current investment round. Just as importantly, it lets us grow our team and create high-quality life sciences jobs here in Scotland, while staying close to the talent and partners that have helped us get this far. We’re proud to be putting down deeper roots between Glasgow and Edinburgh.”

Caroline Baillie, Director of Park Services at Maxim Park said: “We are delighted to see Aureum Diagnostics commit to a new 10‑year lease at Maxim 10 as they continue to grow their presence on the park. Their expansion is a fantastic vote of confidence in our community, and we are proud to support an innovative company that is pushing boundaries in accessible diagnostics. Their decision to expand here reflects the strength of our location and the quality of the environment we strive to provide for innovative organisations. We look forward to supporting Aureum as they advance their work in the years ahead.”

Maxim Park is currently 70% let, bucking the trend and reflecting strong demand for high-quality space in between Glasgow and Edinburgh. A high occupancy rate indicates a thriving business environment and sustained interest from a diverse range of tenants.

Andy Cunningham of MC2 added: “With good occupancy already achieved and 70% of the space let, Maxim Park continues to see strong interest from a range of occupiers. With an expanding life sciences base at Maxim, Aureum has committed to yet more space on the park, which highlights the appeal of the location, high-quality facilities, and the confidence businesses have in joining this vibrant community.”

Maxim Park, which boasts 756,000 sq. ft. of quality office and retail space close to the M8 motorway on the fringes of Glasgow, is part of Eurocentral and is owned by Shelborn Asset Management. Now home to a diverse range of organisations – from financial services and infrastructure to energy and tech – high-profile occupiers include HSBC UK / first direct, Aviva, Balfour Beatty, Amey, Barratt, VMO2, T Clarke, Aureum DX, Wills Bros and Policy Expert.
