Strategic presence in South Wales for BDO

Accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO LLP, has today announced that its merger with PKF (UK) LLP has completed, creating a new force in the market with the ambition to make a significant impact in South Wales.

From today, the firm will operate as one, under the BDO brand and as part of BDO’s international network, the largest global accountancy organisation aimed at the mid-market, with revenues of over $6bn operating in 138 countries worldwide.

The firm has also announced its senior management team, including the partners responsible for the team working for clients across South Wales. Graham Randall will be heading up the South Wales and South West offices from completion, with continued local support and expertise led by Partner, Tim Smith. Together they will lead business growth across South Wales.

Cardiff-based Partner at BDO LLP, Tim Smith, said: “This merger gives us the critical mass to achieve a step change in performance, reinforcing our position in the Welsh market. It gives us the resources to develop our operation and increase our footprint across South Wales. Our ambition is to become Cardiff’s leading mid tier firm, focusing on supporting entrepreneurial businesses, providing them with the very best client service and advice.”

Graham Randall, Lead Partner for BDO LLP, said: “The announcement demonstrates both firms’ on-going commitment to South Wales and local businesses across the area. The merger will provide broader and deeper expertise and international reach for many of our ambitious clients on a local basis, but will also allow staff to gain broader experience from working in an enlarged firm.

“We very much look forward to working together with our new colleagues who continue to shape an exemplary service that meets the precise needs of local businesses.”

The BDO office in Cardiff will continue to be based at Helmont House on Churchill Way. The firm advises a broad client portfolio spanning owner managed businesses, mid-market corporates, AIM-listed companies, charities, not for profit organisations and housing associations.

Commenting on the merger, Simon Michaels, Managing Partner of BDO LLP, said: “It’s time for people to think again about BDO. The merger has transformed our market presence overnight. Senior leadership is a critical factor in making the merger a success, and I know this team is the right mix to build on our ambitions still further and respond quickly to the domestic and international environment. We also remain focused on delivering exceptional service to our clients and creating the right environment for our people to develop and grow.”
