Local Architect Josh Maddison celebrates his appointment as RIBA Wessex Regional Chair, beginning this month, whilst continuing his successful term with the Gloucestershire Branch.
Josh’s new role will see him take on broader more strategic responsibilities, as he advocates for the collective interests of the entire region. The position will entail member engagement and collaboration as he builds and strengthens relationships with local branches and stakeholders across multiple counties in the South West. Josh will continue to advocate for sustainable development, ethical practice, and public awareness of architecture’s value. Through mentoring and collaborations with educational institutions, he aims to inspire and support the next generation of architects, fostering these essential practices for the future of the profession.
Based at GSSArchitecture’s Gloucester Quays office with over 7 years of experience, Josh is well equipped to collaborate with local clients and stakeholders to support the members of RIBA Wessex. He is currently working closely with the Gloucestershire County Council on numerous projects, which includes a reuse centre, a fire training centre and a highways depot.
In response to his recent appointment, Josh has expressed, “I’m honoured and excited to take on the role of RIBA Wessex Regional Chair and to continue building on the fantastic work of those who’ve held this position before me. This role presents an exciting opportunity to advocate for the value of architecture across the region and support our members in delivering projects that truly benefit their communities. I’m particularly passionate about fostering collaboration with local branches, engaging with stakeholders, and inspiring the next generation of architects through mentorship and education. Together, we can shape a resilient and forward-thinking future for our profession, one that continues to make a positive impact on both people and the environment.”
Jonathan Hunter, Senior Partner at GSSArchitecture has stated, ‘After his success as RIBA Gloucestershire chair, we are thrilled to see Josh take on the role of RIBA Wessex Regional chair. We are confident he will continue to drive meaningful progress in this new position, and we look forward to seeing him excel as he brings his expertise to the wider region.’
In his spare time Josh supports the British Dyslexia Association as an ambassador. He is also a keen cyclist, and this summer will be completing a 250-mile ride from Sharpness point to Ness Point, with all the money he is going to raise to go to Children with Cancer Charity and Sue Ryder.
