Corona Energy expands its presence at IM Properties’ Bourn Building in Coventry

Corona Energy is significantly expanding its presence at IM Properties’ Bourn Building in Coventry, creating an additional 150 jobs and reflecting confidence in the city’s growth potential.

Taking a further 15,021 sq ft, the expansion brings their total occupancy to 21,728 sq ft, including half of the fifth floor and the whole of the third floor, on a 10-year lease.

Currently employing over 60 people at Bourn, CEO Neil Mitchell of Corona Energy, a leading independent gas and electricity supplier for the industrial and commercial sector, said Coventry’s talent pool was a major driving factor for their decision to expand.

“Coventry offers a key growth area as a utility’s hub with access to the skills we require, strengthened by the presence of companies like Eon, Octopus, and Severn Trent.

“When it comes to recruitment, we have a major advantage over those servicing the domestic market in that we are able to offer nine to five working hours, making Corona an attractive employer for individuals in the area.”

Bourn has undergone a £9m transformation by Solihull-based IM Properties. Now a 90,000 sq ft, net zero-ready, smart-enabled office building, it runs on a renewable sourced energy, is BREEAM Very Good, and holds an EPC rating of A.

The building’s green credentials played a critical role in attracting Corona Energy to expand its operations at Bourn and now its commitment to building a community is helping with its recruitment.

Rob Hemus, Director of Asset Management and Sustainability, IM Properties, said: “Creating growth opportunities for our occupiers and the communities where our buildings are located is a priority and we welcome the news that Corona is successfully expanding in the city.

“In addition to favourable corporate business hours, Corona can leverage the point of difference our building offers through our desire to connect people and build community at Bourn. Aligned with our Sustainable Futures framework, we offer regular wellness classes and seasonally themed events, to help attract and retain talent.”

“We’ve had fantastic feedback from the people working here since Bourn began to be established and momentum is building.”

Located just minutes from the station, Bourn’s facilities include 16 EV car charging points, with the capacity to expand to 48 in the future, a dedicated cycle hub with bike maintenance stations, and first-class changing and shower facilities.

Internally, the building boasts a dual entrance with a double-height atrium, open floor plates, exposed M&E, and abundant natural light to maximize employee wellbeing. A Social Hub offers breakout areas, active standing stations, and a Zip Tap with filtered, chilled water.

A dedicated high-speed, dual-entry fibre ethernet infrastructure ensures businesses are future-proofed in an increasingly digital environment. Air quality monitoring and indoor greenery enhance the workspace’s biophilia, while outdoor seating areas provide additional wellbeing spaces for employees.

CBRE and Bromwich Hardy are acting as agents on Bourn.
