Global property consultancy Knight Frank has announced two promotions at its Cardiff office.

Tom Griffiths and Gareth Watts have both been promoted from senior surveyors to associate partners in the firm.

Tom, who joined in January 2020 from the Cardiff Council estates team, is a member of Knight Frank’s Capital Markets team which is recognised as one of the leading advisors in the region, providing investment agency advice across all sectors to a wide range of clients including private investors, property companies and funds.

The team has advised on a number of high profile instructions in recent years including acting for Legal & General, Columbia Threadneedle and a number of local developers and investors.

Tom commented: “I am delighted to be promoted to associate partner at Knight Frank, which has offered me an encouraging and supportive working environment. I am fortunate to act for a range of innovative and ambitious clients and look forward to continuing my work with them.”

Tom is anticipating increased activity in the industrial, office and alternative sectors.

Gareth Watts joined the Knight Frank Residential Development team in South Wales three years ago, also from the estates department of Cardiff Council where he was a graduate surveyor.

He now heads the Residential Development division in Cardiff, which has recently been involved on a number of notable instructions including the International Sports Village and Atlantic Wharf projects, as well as a number of city centre build-to-rent schemes including Plot 5 Central Square and John Street.

Gareth said: “In what has been a challenging environment for development, I am fortunate to have worked with fantastic clients on a number of exciting projects in both a strategic consultancy and agency capacity. I am incredibly proud to work for Knight Frank and I’m delighted to be promoted to associate partner. I look forward to the future opportunities that the Residential Development sector has to offer.”

Matt Phillips, managing partner of the Cardiff office, commented: “We are delighted to recognise the achievements of Tom and Gareth with these promotions. They have both demonstrated a real desire to deliver for our clients and have consistently gone that extra mile in terms of delivering, and indeed, exceeding, in their respective sectors.

“This is particularly noteworthy as market conditions have been challenging over the last year and the characteristics that both have displayed in terms of work ethic, initiative and consistently achieving above client expectations have enabled us to continue to succeed. I have no doubt that both will continue to go from strength to strength and we look forward to working with them moving forward.”
