Maple Grove gets the green light for new mixed use scheme in Hattersley

Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, in collaboration with Onward Homes, has been granted planning consent by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (TMBC) for a new 57,000 sq ft mixed-use development in Hattersley.

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (TMBC) has given approval for a new mixed-use scheme which includes a new Aldi food store, Costa Coffee café/drive-thru, 16 electric vehicle charging points and up to eight new employment units on a 5.5-acre site, which is located adjacent to Stockport Road and Ashworth Lane. The scheme includes 179 customer car parking spaces with landscaping proposed across the site to enhance its appearance, in keeping with the local style.

Knight Frank has been appointed as sole letting agent for the trade counter units.

Andrew Dewhurst, development director at Maple Grove commented: “This application brings a site which has lain dormant for many years brought back into use to provide new facilities for the local area. We have worked closely with Onward Homes and Tameside Council to create a site which will benefit the people of Tameside and with planning now secured, we look forward to starting on site in late Summer.

Sandy Livingstone, executive director of property at Onward Homes, said: “We are pleased with Tameside Council’s decision and look forward seeing these new amenities and opportunities delivered at the heart of our Hattersley neighbourhood over the coming years.

“Maple Grove’s proposals will breathe new life into this long-dormant site and we expect the new range of facilities to be welcomed by the local community.”

The project team includes The Harris Partnership, Avison Young (Planning), and Brady Chartered Surveyors
