Plymouth’s former Octagon Brewery returning to brewery use

Acting on behalf of private investors Monk & Partners have relet the former Octagon Brewery to Bullet Proof Brewing Ltd.

Bullet Proof Brewing, a successful local craft lager operation currently operating from retail premises on Mutley Plain, started in a Plymouth garden shed and is now bringing the Octagon Brewery back to life to create a venue for brewing, together with bar, beer garden and kitchen.

Until recently the building was being used by Street Factory CIC as a hip hop street dance workshop since 2016 and recently closed down.

The Original Octagon Brewery produced ale from 1861 and stopped production in 1970 since which the premises have had a number of different uses.

As well as producing ale, there are plans to incorporate a laboratory to develop new brews and create a tap Haus, bar and kitchen.

The circa 6000 sq ft building will create a welcome addition to the regenerated Millbay area of the City catering for the numerous new houses, flats and Marina area within which it is located.

Letting agent John Slade commented, I let the Mutley Plain premises to Bulletproof in 2019 which has proved to be very successful to date and this looks like a natural progression to roll out a very successful concept in a regenerated part of the City.
