World-beating Sartorius takes lease on a fourth facility in Stonehouse

Engineering company Sartorius Stedim Lab Ltd has taken a lease on Frome House at Bond’s Mill, Stonehouse near Stroud, owned by developer Robert Hitchins Ltd.

Robert Hitchins carried out a complete refurbishment of the building to bring it back into use for the world-beating manufacturer who will use the office space for its injection moulding operation.

It is Sartorius’ fourth facility in Stonehouse, along with its main manufacturing building in Stonehouse Park, a bespoke car park facility adjoining Costa Coffee and the Moorings, a high-quality office complex nearby.

Michael Plimmer, Senior Development Manager at Robert Hitchins, commented: “We have a good track record for being able to work development solutions to accommodate our tenants within our estates as their business demands change.

“We’ve been particularly pleased to help Sartorius with this additional facility at Stonehouse Park which supports their business growth in the region.

“Having developed the company’s main building in Stonehouse Park in 2016 we have since worked alongside them to deliver a new car parking facility, and two refurbished office buildings.”

Sartorius Stedim Lab grew out of a business established in Oakridge by former MD Chris Biddell. Now operating in Stonehouse, it is owned by the German-based Sartorius Group – a leading international pharmaceutical and laboratory equipment provider with circa 16,000 employees worldwide.

Frome House sits on the Stroudwater Canal. The refurbishment included retaining many of the orginal features, including Victorian brickwork.

Bond’s Mill is a thriving business park just 1.5 miles from junction 13 of the M5 and next door to Stonehouse Park. It boasts a mix of refurbished Victorian mill buildings and modern commercial premises with a café on site, meeting room facilities and car parking.
