Clegg Construction goes back to school in £2m project

Clegg Construction has started work on a £2 million project to extend a secondary school.

The scheme will provide a two floor extension to the sixth form teaching block at Littleover Community School in Derby, to create 10 additional classrooms and two common rooms – one based on each floor.

Clegg Construction has worked on similar developments in the past, most prominently at Carlton Le Willows school in Gedling, Nottingham.

David Knifton, business development manager at Clegg Construction, said: “Having previously worked on schools in Nottingham, this is a great opportunity for Clegg Construction to expand its skills and expertise on school projects to other areas.

“We’re working on many schemes at the moment in and around Derby but it’s great to be part of improving the city’s educational facilities.

“The project is the first phase of a planned larger expansion programme to improve the school’s teaching facilities for new and existing students.

“Clegg Construction has worked on many large-scale schemes at major universities, but is equally adept at carrying out construction work on major school projects.”

Work on the extension to the Littleover Community School sixth form teaching block is due to be completed in August, 2013. It will open to students and staff at the start of the autumn term, 2013.
