Jaynic pre-lets 76,822 sq ft unit to Hermes and submits detailed planning application for three further units at Suffolk Park

Jaynic continues the success of its 2m sq ft Suffok Park logistics and business scheme at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, with the pre-letting of a 76,822 sq ft warehouse to parcel delivery company Hermes.

At the same time it has submitted a detailed planning application for phase three of Suffolk Park, comprising the Hermes unit and two further warehouse units of 160,000 sq ft and 47,000 sq ft respectively.

The 160,000 sq ft unit – SP160 – will benefit from enterprise zone status while the 47,000 sq ft unit – SP47 will be built alongside the unit occupied by the East of England Ambulance Trust.

Ben Oughton, development director of Jaynic, says: “The unit to be occupied by Hermes demonstrates the excellence of this location near Junction 45 of the A14. This further letting flags up the strong and sustained demand at Suffolk Park over the last couple of years from occupiers for a range of sizes, and has hastened our decision to submit the detailed application for phase three of the development,” adds Oughtond

Companies taking space at Suffolk Park to date include Weerts Group, MH Star UK Ltd, Unipart Logistics, Treatt, Sealey and The East of England Ambulance Trust accounting for approaching 1.75m sq ft of space.

Suffolk Park offers prospective occupiers bespoke buildings on a design & build basis alongside a rolling programme of speculative development.

It is located within one hour of the Port of Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port dealing with 42% of Britain’s containerised trade. In 2015 it was ranked as the 37th busiest container port in the world and Europe’s 6th busiest.

Bury St Edmunds is located on the strategically important A14 corridor, linking Felixstowe to the Midlands and London via the M11. The town boasts a variety of production and distribution occupiers including major national operators such as M H Star UK Ltd, Unipart, Sealey, Greene King, British Sugar, Century Logistics, Treatt, Atalian Servest, Mizkan and Taylor Wimpey.

Major residential development is underway in the town with over 5,000 new homes allocated and construction commenced, to help the town’s continued economic growth and to accommodate an expanding workforce.
