Stoford set for next phase of Exeter Logistics Park

Stoford has secured reserved matters planning approval for the next stage of development at an industrial scheme in East Devon that could create more than 150 new jobs.

The leading commercial property developer will construct two new units at Exeter Logistics Park, including a c.55,000 sq ft parcel distribution service centre on behalf of a world-leading logistics company.

The modern, bespoke facility contains integral office space and has been designed to increase operational efficiency, minimising the number of vehicles required on site and reducing environmental footprint.

The building will be constructed to a BREEAM ‘very good’ environmental rating and contains several sustainability features, including PV solar panels, a sustainable urban drainage system and a green roof atop office areas. It will benefit from electric vehicle charging points, with the infrastructure in place to become fully electric in the future.

Stoford will speculatively develop a second unit of c. 28,500 sq ft, which is expected to operate as a conventionally designed facility, providing flexible warehouse space.

The developer will also deliver the next phase of the estate road which will unlock future phases of development at Exeter Logistics Park.

Work is expected to start this month (July 2021), with both new units functional by Q1 2022.

Dan Gallagher, Joint Managing Director, Stoford said: “We are grateful to East Devon District Council for their positive approach to this planning application. This ambitious build programme recognises the need for the site to be developed responsibly and will contribute to the council’s target of becoming carbon neutral by 2040. It will also deliver significant economic benefits, creating many new local jobs.”

Exeter Logistics Park is part of the second phase of a significant industrial scheme on
55-acres of land at the former Hayes Farm, Clyst Honiton.

The site is owned by the Church Commissioners for England and is part of the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point economic development zone east of the M5, near Exeter Airport.
