Leeds-based commercial developer, Eshton, has begun construction at its Castleford site having recently appointed C & AJ Marshall Builders as contractors.

Eshton was granted planning permission for the development of two units spanning more than 10,000 sq ft at Castleford, West Yorkshire, in September 2020, having purchased it in 2019 for an undisclosed sum.

C & AJ Marshall Builders, based at Foxhill Court in Weetwood, has now begun work on site and expects to complete on the units in August.

Eshton announced after purchase that Formula One Auto Centres, one of the UK’s largest independent motorist fast-fit vehicle repair and service providers, would occupy the smaller building, using the premises as part of its expansion strategy across England.

The developer will retain the second of the two units – which is 6,000 sq ft in size – to let, offering any future tenants strong transport links and a popular location for trade occupiers. The site sits close to Junction 32 of the M62 and has good access to the town centre, making it attractive for a variety of uses.

Richard Tovey, director at Eshton, said: “C & AJ Marshall are an established contractor with a good reputation for quality and professionalism. To help us achieve our desired high-quality of construction; we selected C & AJ Marshall as part of our team and we are pleased that so soon after their appointment, they are on site and making great progress.

“Castleford offers a huge amount of potential, located in a thriving area. Formula One Auto Centres is already set to benefit from this, and we are now in the process of marketing our second unit for let. Businesses wanting to take advantage of the opportunity shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch with the site’s agent; Simon Hill from Colliers’ Leeds office.”

Philip MacLauchlan from Formula One Auto Centres added: “We are looking forward to opening a new motorist centre on this scheme to further expand our network in the area. The business continues to grow and this development provides all of the essential elements we seek in terms of accessibility, prominence and quality of building/design.”
