Chartered surveyor status achieved by graduate at Bristol office of Colliers International

APC success at Colliers International Bristol - Jo Edwards and Harry Barlow

A graduate surveyor in the Bristol office of Colliers International has gained chartered surveyor status.

Harry Barlow, who works in the Valuation and Advisory Services team, has passed the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

He joined the Bristol office of Colliers International in September 2019, after graduating from the University of the West of England with a BA (Hons) in Property Development and Planning.

Jo Edwards, Head of South West and Wales, said: “Harry originally came to the Bristol office of Colliers International in July 2017, when he undertook his placement year in the Industrial & Logistics team. After he graduated with First Class Honours, he joined the staff as a graduate surveyor in the Valuation & Advisory Services team.

“Harry’s high standards can be seen in his valuation work, and are also reflected in the fact that he has passed his APC on his first attempt despite the additional challenges caused by lockdowns this year.”

Harry added: “I very much appreciate all the support that I’ve received through the Colliers International Graduate APC scheme, and also from my colleagues in the Bristol office who helped me during my training and preparations.

“I’m delighted to have passed my APC, and am now looking forward to continuing to develop my career as a chartered surveyor and registered valuer.”

Harry is one of 18 graduate surveyors at Colliers International who qualified as chartered surveyors following the autumn assessments. Their success follows on from the qualification of 11 chartered surveyors earlier in the year, bringing the total number of Colliers staff achieving chartered status this year to 29.

Their success in spite of 2020 being a challenging year for the industry has been praised by Tony Horrell, Chief Executive Officer of Colliers International for UK and Ireland. He said: “This cohort’s achievement is significant and a testament to their hard work especially because of the unusual circumstances they have had to train and learn through this year.

“We encourage our people to do their best every day, and as part of this we place great importance upon professional standards and providing support for our colleagues on their APC journeys.

“The success of our graduates reflects the way our whole business has embraced this ethos, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and develop with their teams at Colliers.”
