Pub chain contract is major coup for Colliers International

Commercial property managers Kevin Smith and Nick Mills have been brought in by Colliers International’s Bristol office to oversee a major new contract with pub giant Mitchells & Butlers.

The brand’s portfolio includes familiar High Street chains including Harvester, Toby Carvery and All Bar One and operates around 1,600 restaurants and pubs all over the UK.

The new managers – both recruited from Bath-based Touchstone – will take over estate management for unlicensed premises within the £3 billion portfolio.

Head of the Bristol office Tim Davies said the Mitchells & Butlers contract was a major coup for the Broad Quay based team.

He said: “Kevin and Nick have had long experience in this sector and we are delighted to have secured their expertise to help manage this key contract.
They will be looking after the unlicensed element of around 1,600 different sites, typically managing vacant space above or adjoining a pub.”

Kevin Smith said the Mitchells & Butlers contract was one of the most significant in the hotels and pubs sector.

“This is a massive contract involving an enormous number of premises, all of which present their own unique set of requirements.

“Our job is to identify the best letting option for each premises to reduce the amount of vacant space across the portfolio.

“This has become a matter of particular importance for pub operators, especially nationally-known brands such as Mitchells & Butlers.

Typical uses for spare rooms above pubs are start up or sole trader businesses.

Based at the Broad Quay office, Kevin and Nick will be responsible for the entire portfolio across all regions of the UK.
