South West property consultancy Alder King has appointed Gareth Jackson as a partner in its planning team to help service continuing strong demand for its planning services.

Gareth has joined the firm after 10 years in London where most recently he was Planning Director at Dominvs Group, advising on a wide range of high profile commercial and residential schemes across London and the UK.

In his new role, Gareth will work closely with partner Simon Fitton, who heads the Alder King planning team, focusing on major development projects across the South West and South Wales. Gareth has a wealth of project experience that will be invaluable in securing consent for Alder King clients.

Simon Fitton said: “Despite the challenges this year has brought, the planning process has continued as normal and we have remained very busy progressing a wide range of applications for clients. We are delighted to welcome Gareth to the team. His arrival brings valuable high level experience and resource at a key time.”

Scottish-born Gareth is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and a Member of the RTPI. He is now in the process of relocating from London to Bristol.

Gareth said: “I’m very excited to be progressing my career with Alder King, a practice which is widely acknowledged as the leading property consultancy in the South West, as well as moving to the West Country.”

Alder King’s planning team provides a full spectrum of planning services to private and public sector clients across the South West of England and South Wales. It has particular expertise in residential and mixed use development, student accommodation and renewable energy.

Its most recent success is securing planning permission for the regeneration of a 4.2 ha brownfield site on Silverthorne Lane in Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone. The scheme is the first to come forward on ‘Silverthorne Island’ and includes major residential and student development, commercial floorspace for the University of Bristol and a new secondary school for the local area.
