National commercial property and investment company LCP has announced the appointment of a joint managing director.

James Buchanan takes his new role after six years as investment director at the business. Based at Millbank Tower, London, he will be responsible for overseeing retail development, steering the business out of the challenges brought about by Covid-19, and the development of multi-use schemes across the UK, to maximise asset potential and add value to the communities in which they sit.

He will also continue his role in leading the investments for the company, with £200 million available for acquisitions.

He said: “LCP has long taken a proactive approach to building up its retail portfolio, particularly the local convenience parade sector, over the past few years and we’ve seen strong growth as a result. Despite this being a challenging time for the property industry, we are in an excellent position to forge on with our plans for investment. I’m looking forward to playing a key role in ensuring LCP remains a market leader in the property and investment sectors.”

Nick Burgess, managing director of industrial at LCP, added: “As we prepare to navigate our way out of the difficulties caused by Covid-19, our first-class retail team, headed by James, whose experience and expertise is second to none, will steer us in the right direction. We’re confident about the future.”

Last month, LCP announced the promotion of Julian Diamond to head of asset management in London.
