Former Penzance County Court sold to doctors’ practice

Property consultants Alder King have completed the sale of Trevear House, the former Penzance County Court, to the Alverton Doctors Practice.

The Practice will refurbish the imposing Grade II listed building after obtaining Listed Building Consent following consultation with Cornwall Council’s Historic Buildings Inspector.

Tom Duncan, head of agency in Alder King’s Truro office says: “This property generated a lot of interest. By coincidence, it will now be returning to one of its former uses as it was a Doctors Surgery many years before it became the Penzance County Court.”

The use as a Doctors Surgery is also classed under the same class within the Town and Country Planning Act (Use Classes Order 2010) and therefore no planning consent for change of use was required.

The building, located within a conservation area, comprises approximately 2,959 sq ft (274.9 sq m) of accommodation over basement, ground, first and second floors and has the added benefit of car parking to the rear. The asking price for the property was £250,000 and a price just below this level was achieved.

Alder King acted on behalf of HM Courts & Tribunals Service.
