Bristol still open for business as new deal signed at Whitefriars

A new 5-year lease at Bristol’s landmark office building, Whitefriars, is a great result for Topland and HTC’s office agency team, led by Lizzie Boswell along with joint agents at JLL and Burston Cook.

As soon as government restrictions ease, Trident Building Consultancy Ltd will be moving into their newly refurbished space at Whitefriars in the heart of the city, complete with a recently refurbished cafe, gym, large meeting rooms and breakout space.

Topland has been working hard to keep Whitefriars open for tenants with essential business during the lockdown, and is supporting the NHS with over one third of occupiers still using the space, all associated with the nearby Bristol Royal Infirmary.

With a new office building also on Topland’s books – circa 45,000 sq. ft. at nearby 33 Colston Avenue, which is poised ready for refurbishment once lockdown lifts – it is clear that Topland is still very much open for business in Bristol. Set against this backdrop, HTC is looking forward to securing more occupiers at these great offices as businesses start to return to work soon.

Commenting on the news, Lizzie Boswell at Hartnell Taylor Cook said: “Whitefriars is a great example of how Bristol’s offices are reinventing themselves to cater to the needs of the modern occupier. Another new lease in the building reflects the strength of the city’s market, even during this uncertain period. Bristol’s exciting trajectory continues!”

Steve Pope, Group Director of Property and Asset Management at Topland, also said: “Whitefriars has consistently achieved a high number of lettings over the recent past, with business occupiers attracted by the competitive market pricing allied to the excellent range of amenities and good quality space. It’s great to see these factors have attracted Trident to the building during the lockdown, and we are delighted to add them to our roster of occupiers at this time. We expect Whitefriars to continue to be one of the most attractive offers in Bristol as businesses start to open up post the lockdown.”

Additionally, Daniel Brooks-Dowsett, Director at Trident Building Consultancy Ltd, said: “Trident’s Bristol team have a long standing relationship with the landlord and we know the building very well, so we are delighted to be joining Whitefriars. It was a very quick and straightforward decision for us as the building meets all our requirements in terms of central Bristol location, facilities and value for money. Regardless of the current pandemic, Trident is intending to continue growing our coverage in Bristol, the South West and Wales. Our new office will be fitted out to promote our team’s wellbeing, flexibility and productivity. We were delighted to be able to complete this lease very quickly during the Coronavirus lockdown and this is testament to all involved, so we are very thankful to those parties. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Topland, now as one of their occupiers and advisors!”
