Midlands firm expands into new premises at 126 Colmore Row

A Midlands mechanical, electrical and environmental design company has engineered a move to new offices in Birmingham to aid its ongoing expansion.

Design MEP has taken a fully fitted first-floor office suite at EDG Property’s 126 Colmore Row and has vacated its previous base on nearby Temple Street, as it continues to grow in the region.

Design MEP – who also have offices in Leicester and London – employ 32 staff and provide design-based MEP expertise nationally across all sectors of the construction industry including commercial, education, healthcare, heritage, leisure, residential, MOJ, MOD, industrial and retail.

Their clients range from major construction firms including Galliford Try, Berkeley Homes, Telford Living, Midgard and public sector organisations such as the NHS, Department for Education, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Justice.

The move to 126 Colmore Row comes just weeks after it was announced that another firm – commercial fit-out company Intex Projects – had taken an office on the third-floor at EDG Property’s prestigious Colmore Row office building.

The property is already home to renowned tenants such as Jamaya Restaurants on the ground floor, with upper floors occupied by the likes of the Frankfurt Christmas Market, Intex Projects and Jeremy Gardner Associates.

EDG, who acquired 126 Colmore Row less than a year ago, has been delivering a refurbishment of the building – that offers unrivalled views across Colmore Row and Victoria Square.

Neil Edginton, director of EDG Property, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Design MEP to 126 Colmore Row, which is another ambitious, innovative and growing business that reflects the entrepreneurial and professional community that we are creating at this special property.

“This represents the second Birmingham-based business in as many months that has relocated from other nearby premises, which underlines the building’s strong appeal as we continue to receive high levels of tenant interest.”

James O’Grady, of Design MEP, added: “Being situated at the heart of the second city’s CBD is a significant move for us as we look to continue our growth, not only in Birmingham and the West Midlands, but further afield too.

“And with our technical design expertise, we can certainly appreciate the functional and aesthetic attraction of a building, and 126 Colmore Row ticks both boxes!”
