Glencar hosted a steel-signing ceremony this week at the VGP Park East Midlands development, marking a key milestone in the delivery of this major 835,000 sq ft sustainable logistics scheme in Leicestershire.
The event brought together representatives from VGP, Newlands, local councillors and members of the project team. Guests gathered to sign one of the first steel sections being erected on the development, symbolising progress on Phase 1 of the project and the collaborative effort driving it forward.
Glencar is currently delivering the first 370,000 sq ft phase of the landmark multi-unit logistics park, comprising two high-specification units:
Unit 3 – 240,000 sq ft
Unit 4 – 130,000 sq ft
Both buildings include integrated office space and are being constructed to BREEAM Excellent standards. The programme also includes full site-wide earthworks, formation of development plateaus to support future phases, extensive external works and significant infrastructure upgrades including Section 278 improvements to Netherfield Lane and Tamworth Road.
VGP is a pan-European owner, manager and developer of high-quality logistics and industrial real estate.
VGP Park East Midlands is strategically located beside junction 24a of the M1 and the A50, providing direct access to the UK’s key logistics corridor, and is VGP’s first UK site.
Peter Goodman, Managing Director at Glencar, said:
“This week’s steel-signing marks an important moment for everyone involved in VGP Park East Midlands. It’s a valuable opportunity to acknowledge the work already completed on site and to celebrate the strong partnership between Glencar, VGP, Newlands and the wider project team. We look forward to delivering a best-in-class logistics development that will support future occupiers and contribute positively to the local economy.”
Phase 1 remains on programme for completion in October 2026, reinforcing Glencar’s position as a leading contractor in the UK industrial and logistics construction sector.
