GMI awarded contract to build new £20m industrial development

GMI Construction Group, an expanding building and construction services company has announced the award of a new project instruction to construct a new 430,000 sq ft industrial development for Evans Property Group at Fradley Park in Lichfield.

Construction of the new development which started on site during June is being developed speculatively and is expected to take 8 months to build. Once complete it will feature a 400,000 sq ft warehouse together with 30,000 sq ft CAT A office accommodation.

The project is the second significant instruction to be awarded to GMI to date at Fradley Park following the completion of a 700,000 sq ft steel and concrete clad distribution facility delivered for Tesco previously which handed over five weeks early.

Speaking about the project GMI Divisional Managing Director Marc Banks said: “We are very pleased to announce the award of this contract at Fradley Park for Evans – one of GMI’s longest standing and most valued customers. GMI continues to make great strides in the logistics/distribution market with over 3M sq ft of projects on site and under construction currently so far during 2019 with more to come.

This project also serves to underline the strength of our growth so far this year having recently been crowned Construction Business of the Year at the Insider North West Property Awards and opened a new regional office in Birmingham. GMI is growing rapidly and we look forward to continued expansion this year with further announcements in due course”.

The full project team on the development includes Architect – Kilmartin Plowman & Partners, Structural Engineer – JPG Group, Quantity Surveyors – Richard Boothroyd & Associates and M&E Consultants – MRB Consulting Engineers.
