Driving Regus Recruitment Forward

Newport based Regus Recruitment, an independent recruitment agency, has moved to larger offices in Bridge Street, Newport. The company recently launched a driving division specialising in Class 1 & 2 Drivers, and the demand for additional staff in this sector has prompted managing director Nick Pilgrim to bring forward his expansion plans for the business in 2012.

The new driving division has proved a popular addition to compliment some of their existing clients of which Newport City Council is one. “We have already placed a number of candidates in various temporary driving roles including haulage, highways repair, refuse, and construction.” explained Nick Pilgrim. He continued,” Our current success has dictated that we needed to look for suitable premises to operate from which is why chose to re locate to Bridge Street, also this will mean we can employ additional staff to meet the current increasing Client demands in this sector.”

“We’ve returned to our original location in the city,” said Nick Pilgrim. “When I started the business in 2002, we had a smaller office just up the road at 29 Bridge Street. Since 2009 we have been located in the High Street, near the Indoor Market, and we have now returned to Bridge Street to offices twice the size of our first premises.”

Over the last five years, Regus Recruitment has diversified into other areas but has retained its core industry sectors in engineering/construction/clerical/management. Regus Recruitment has experienced first-hand, the highs and lows of the local economy especially in the last three years, and Nick is confident that a return to a more optimistic growth in the market place is imminent. He said, “Five years ago our construction and engineering sectors were flat out finding candidates, our clerical division were also very busy. Whilst these departments remained constant, our new driving division has really taken off and this has been a real catalyst for growth.”

Dan Smith, director of M4 Property Consultants was responsible for negotiating the lease on behalf of a private landlord. He said, “We’re very pleased to have helped Regus Recruitment expand. The first two floors of 70 Bridge Street will provide them with a great location and plenty of space for further growth. Newport’s economy needs small businesses to set up and grow and we have a number of opportunities providing lease flexibility and competitive terms to suit such companies. “
