Future of key site in Christchurch to be decided

Goadsby Commercial and Colliers International will be seeking expressions of interest in a 1.92 hectare (4.74 acres) site in the heart of Christchurch Town Centre.

The site is currently in four ownerships including Dorset County Council, Christchurch Borough Council, Police & Crime Commission for Dorset and the Hospital of St Mary Magdalen Trust.

The site is situated on Bargates and Barrack Road near the main roundabout off the High Street.  It may be suitable for a variety of uses, subject to planning, and is an opportunity to transform what is currently an under-utilised area of the town.

The agents said: “At this stage it is only expressions of interest that we are seeking as some parts of the site have not yet been declared surplus to requirements, including the current Police Station.  The marketing approach will allow us to enter into dialogue with interested parties and in particular to discuss any requirements for re-provision and further on-site enhancements.”
