Senior Planner (Bedford)

A great role has become available for a Senior Planner to join an expanding multi-disciplinary consultancy in Bedford. This firm have a great reputation in the area and a long-standing client base for you to work with. Their offices are centrally located and there is parking available.

You will be working in a busy planning and development department and get to see projects right through the whole P&D process. Reporting to the Head of Department you will be assisting in the mentoring and development of junior staff and will be a key member of the team. You will be given the autonomy to take the lead with clients and manage your own workload/projects with full support where required e.g. on larger schemes and where you feel you need it. Project types include residential, commercial, mixed-use, rural and change of us, ranging in scale from small plots right up to large urban extensions of nearly 2000 homes. Your role will include; writing planning statements; preparing and submitting planning applications; feasibility studies; site appraisals; development appraisals; liaising with the firms other departments offering planning advice on schemes; managing any appeals; submission of representations relating to local plans; site promotion work; building your own client relationships whilst also maintaining existing relationships of the firms.

We are looking for candidates with an MSc in a planning related discipline as well as full RTPI membership (MRTPI). Some consultancy experience is preferred but not essential as those with public sector will also be considered. There is a need for strong development management experience, but some policy experience would be a good compliment. You should have strong report writing and technical ability, good presentation skills, be confident in managing small to medium scale projects independently and assisting on larger schemes, be confident in client facing situations and managing clients as well as a team player with a professional outlook.
