My client is a successful small/medium sized main contractor in Bristol that works on prestigious refurbishments and insurance projects predominantly in the Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Gloucestershire and occasionally further afield. They now require a surveyor at experienced to senior level to enhance their high quality service and relationship driven business.
Project values are generally between £5k and £1m, though they also provide minor works capability for key repeat clients. They employ about 15 staff (office and skilled trades) and use a larger number of regular specialist sub-contractors working in the residential, conversions and quasi commercial sectors. Many of the projects are on listed and occupied buildings.
With strong relationships with agents, property managers, building consultancies, institutions and enjoying success with private clients, much of their business is by recommendation.
The Directors require an outgoing surveyor who has strong building and construction knowledge across different building types, preferably gained working with another contractor/consultancy/trades (or combination), experienced in producing detailed specification writing (including non-standard repair work) and pricing, visiting site and liaising with sub-contractors to achieve project completions.
Ideally you should have a building or quantity surveying HND and/or preferably have spent time in a trade with experience doing some taking off, the ability to interpret drawings, freehand drawing skills and good knowledge of health and safety and CDM regs. You must have a strong work ethic, commercial acumen, be pro-active with good communication skills, have a level-head and the ability to drive projects forward.
On offer is a competitive package between £30,000 to £60,000 (depending on experience) plus expensed mileage. With progression in the business and proof of ability there will also be the opportunity to receive further benefits such as private health-care and discretionary bonuses. Annual leave by negotiation.
