Wiltshire Museum has acquired the freehold of a modern unit at the popular Beacon Centre development on the giant Solstice Park at Amesbury.
Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, which owns and runs the museum in Devizes, snapped up the property in a deal brokered by property consultancy Myddelton & Major
Freehold quoting price for the 1,904 sq ft (176.88 sq m) industrial/warehouse Unit 211 on Solar Way was £195,000.
Myddelton & Major Partner Dean Speer said: “The museum, located in Georgian and Victorian listed buildings in Devizes since 1874, needed additional space and I was pleased to help them acquire this Beacon centre premises
“The museum contains the largest collection of Early Bronze Age gold ever put on public display in England, along with 500 Stonehenge period objects, including 30 pieces of gold treasure, together with archaeology, art, natural history, local history, and an archive and library.
“It is a wonderful public attraction and this extra space will allow the museum to carry out many extra functions.”
