Multi-billion pound construction firm finds base in Nottingham

Innes England has helped construction, infrastructure and design business Morgan Sindall acquire an industrial unit in the heart of the Trent Basin industrial area.

Having recently secured a large utility services contract in Nottingham, Morgan Sindall required a centralised operating base to support the surrounding works.

The 23,814 sq ft detached unit on Poulton Drive in Colwick is in the heart of a busy industrial estate and has been let on an all-inclusive basis and includes two storey office space as well as a distribution warehouse, secure parking and service yard.

Scott Osborne of Innes England handled the deal on behalf of the landlord with the transaction concluding to coincide with the start of the new contracts. Scott said: “Although there were factors beyond our control that threatened to disrupt the deal, both parties were able to work together and conclude an amicable deal.

“I am delighted that we have secured a tenant of the calibre of Morgan Sindall to the premises. The unit is ideally situated in close proximity to the city centre with good transportation links to the east of the city, which was a key factor in determining the acquisition. Towards the east of the city there are limited opportunities presently available and the accommodation suited Morgan Sindall’s requirement, so a logical decision could be made.”

Morgan Sindall’s activities range from small works and repair and maintenance, to the design and delivery of complex construction and engineering projects where it is able to provide specialist design, tunnelling, utilities, building, civil engineering and mechanical and electrical services.

Tom Anderson, senior quantity surveyor at Morgan Sindall, who handled the negotiations said: “The new unit suited our occupation needs to service a multi-million pound contract in Nottingham.”

Innes England act on behalf of Isis Waterside Regeneration and now only have one remaining unit comprising c.21,000 sq ft remaining in the development, which is currently under offer.

Scott added: “We hope to confirm the conclusion of the remaining unit within the next few weeks which will bring over 100,000 sq ft of taken accommodation since our instruction and bring the estate to 100 per cent occupancy.  I wish Tom and all his colleagues at Morgan Sindall success with their new ventures.”
