Business Club to celebrate St David’s Day with three guest speakers at Parc y Scarlets

Swansea Bay Business Club will celebrate St David’s Day this year with its annual lunch event at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli on Friday 1st March.

Former Wales rugby head coach, Gareth Jenkins, co-founder of Zip World, Sean Taylor, and local Swansea favourite, Kev Johns MBE will all be on stage at the lunch to share some of their stories from the worlds of sport, business and entertainment.

President of Swansea Bay Business Club, Paul Gardner, commented: “We’ve really pushed the boat out this year with our speakers and are looking forward to a fantastic afternoon of celebration with plenty of sporting and business insight for our guests to enjoy.

“It will be great to hold a lunch further in to West Wales as we continue to spread our events right across the Swansea Bay City Region, connecting as many people and fostering as many working relationships as we can.”

Gareth Jenkins spent his entire playing career with Llanelli and was a part of the side that famously beat the All Blacks at Stradey Park in 1972. He went on to be the head coach of Llanelli, the Scarlets, Wales and went on the 2005 Lions tour to New Zealand as part of the backroom coaching staff.

Sean Taylor is the co-founder of the popular Welsh tourist attraction Zip World, which now attracts over 400,000 visitors to its 11 sites each year. It now looks set to grow even bigger, with plans for its first site outside of North Wales after major private equity investment.

Kev Johns MBE will be master of ceremonies at the event and will talk to both Gareth and Sean on stage as well as sharing a few tales of his own. Kev wears many hats throughout the region, hosting the breakfast show on Swansea Sound, being the official chaplain for Swansea City FC and starring in the annual Swansea Christmas Pantomime.

Paul continued: “With three fantastic speakers lined up who will complement each other perfectly, our lunch looks set to be a great celebration on the day of our patron saint. We’re expecting good attendance for the lunch so would advise people to book as early as they can.”

Tickets to Swansea Bay Business Club’s St David’s Day lunch at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli cost £40 for members and £49.50 for non-members. This will include a three-course lunch.

Guests are asked to arrive from 12:15 for a 1pm lunch. Ticket sales will close at midnight on Friday 22nd February, one week before the event.
