M-EC announces senior team promotions as business continues to expand

Senior promotions at M-EC (L-R): Daniel Halstead & Rosie James, associate directors and Tim Rose, director.

One of the fastest growing engineering and environmental consultancies in the country, M-EC, is gaining a reputation for not only delivering excellent multi-disciplinary projects but developing brilliant careers ─ with no less than three long-term team members of its Leicester office being made directors.

Founders, Eddie Mewies and Alex Bennett, are delighted to announce that Tim Rose has been made a director of the business, with Rosie James and Daniel Halstead both being promoted to associate directors.

Tim, a highly-qualified transport engineer who has been with M-EC since its inception, has been made a director of the business with responsibility for the company’s head office, based in Hugglescote in north Leicestershire.

“I started working with M-EC in 2009 ─ the year the business was founded ─ and we were initially predominantly transport, flood risk and civils focused. As the business grew we added strong noise, geomatics and geo-environmental teams, following which regional offices have been launched in Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Leeds and more recently Brighton,” commented Tim. “We’re definitely moving towards a position where we are the ‘go to consultants’ in all the geographical areas we work, whilst continuing to build on our outstanding reputation for quality and customer care. I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved so far and delighted to have been recognised in this way as we continue to grow the business.”

New associate director, Rosie James, is a noise and air quality consultant and has worked with M-EC for the past five years. She has seen the demand for noise and air quality services increase exponentially.

“Having launched the division myself, we’ve now grown to a team of seven noise specialist engineers with an ever-expanding list of capabilities.

“My new role encompasses specific and multi-disciplinary project management together with business development, which includes growing the team and working in new geographical areas including our Brighton office,” said Rosie. “I’m delighted to be made an associate director, which recognises what we’ve achieved, giving the whole team the impetus to move forward with our future plans.”

And last but definitely not least, Daniel Halstead has also been made an associate director. Daniel joined the business six years ago as a senior surveyor, specialising in the area of geomatics ─ which includes land and building surveys, 3D laser scanning, photogrammetry and underground utility mapping.

“As associate director for geomatics my role is now more strategically focused, ensuring excellence in the delivery of preeminent multi-disciplinary surveying and mapping services to our clients across the UK,” explained Daniel. “I’m now also a member of a very experienced and enthusiastic senior management team, with a wealth of knowledge across all disciplines and am very grateful to be working with such an accomplished group of individuals. I see this as a wonderful opportunity to fulfil not only my career ambitions but my personal goals as well.”

Managing director Eddie Mewies said: “To be able to help with the development of these long-standing team members’ careers is a real achievement for M-EC as a business and something of which we are extremely proud. It has always been our ethos to bring on home grown talent, hopefully inspiring the team to learn from each other and work together for the good of the whole business.”

“It’s very important to us that our team views M-EC as a long-term career choice, where they will be supported and encouraged to develop both professional and personal skills. We’re attracting and retaining some excellent people, which all bodes well for the continued success of the business,” concluded director, Alex Bennett.

M-EC has offices in Leicester, Birmingham, Brighton, Leeds, Milton Keynes and Nottingham and the company’s extensive client base currently covers commercial, education, industrial, residential, leisure and retail projects.

Currently employing over 90 people – including highly qualified engineering and environmental professionals and 20 apprentices across all disciplines – M-EC is becoming recognised as one of the most client-focused consultancies in the industry.
