One of Wales’ largest law firms is expanding the range of legal services available from their SA1 Swansea office.

Headed by Stephen Hiscocks, Partner, Howells Solicitors will be introducing comprehensive commercial property and business services for landlords, businesses, private clients and developers in the region, and will work alongside the existing residential, private client and family law departments already practising from their Swansea Waterfront location.

Originally from Llanelli, Stephen has been instrumental in the growth of the firm’s Commercial Property Department in Cardiff during the past two years, gaining an enviable reputation for advising clients on a range of commercial matters.

The addition of a Commercial Property Department in Swansea is part of Howells long term strategy to build upon the success of their already growing presence in the region and will provide bespoke commercial property legal service.

Stephen’s recent promotion to Partner in November 2017 is a reflection of his standing within the firm, and an increasing national client following, which resulted in the invitation by the Directors of Howells to relocate to the Swansea office to launch the new department.

Commenting on the announcement and explaining the decision, Philip Howell, co-founding Director of Howells Solicitors said, “Since opening our Swansea office in 2008, we have established ourselves as a leading law practice in the region. We now employ a team of 24 and are recruiting to manage the demand for our current services. We aim to build upon this and the introduction of a Commercial Property Department will help us to achieve this.”

He continued, “Stephen is a most welcome addition to our Swansea team, and his legal knowledge, experience and business acumen made him the ideal candidate to open a new commercial department.”

The opportunity was eagerly accepted by Stephen, who said, “Since qualifying as a solicitor, following a previous career in the Army, I have always challenged myself and sought to put client care at the forefront of the services I provide. Having thoroughly enjoyed working with the commercial team in Cardiff, and the successes we enjoyed together, I now have an opportunity to establish a new department in the area I grew up in. It is particularly exciting given the proposed Swansea Bay City Region development programme, announced by the government in March 2017, which will see £1.3 billion of investment come into the region over the next 15 years.”
