The number, value and type of complex commercial property transactions completed by Midlands and South West based Real Estate lawyers at regional law firm Lodders have reached record levels in 2017.

This year, the firm’s Real Estate team, one of the largest in the region with more than thirty in number, including eight partners, has completed property deals with a combined value well in excess of £800million.

With individual values from £3million up to £250million, the deals span a wide geographic area from Chepstow to London, Birmingham to Southampton and Bath to Telford and within Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire, in a range of market sectors including housing, logistics, automotive, hospitality, and retail.

The 2017 deals include the sale of Bridgestone House in Warwick for a private investor; the acquisition and disposal of land to a major housebuilder; acting in the sale of brownfield development land in London; the private sale of an industrial estate; acting for a large regional developer in the acquisition, development and forward funding of a development site for a leading hotel chain; and acting for a UK plc developer promoting over 250-acres for mainly residential purposes.

All transactions have been handled by Lodders’ specialist Real Estate lawyers based at its Stratford upon Avon and Cheltenham offices.

The Real Estate team is led by Partner Paul Mourton, who says: “We are focused on providing commercial solutions with speed and efficiency, and the size of our team means we have the strength and depth of experience, but with a partner-led, proactive service, our clients work directly with the individual or team working for them.

“In recent years, the team has seen sustained demand for our real estate and commercial property advice, particularly our specialist logistics sector expertise, with a number of transactions for clients buying and selling distribution warehouses across the country. We continue to act for many of the region’s biggest housebuilders and commercial and residential developers on land acquisition and disposal agreements and longer-term strategic land promotion and option agreements.

“The value, complexity and range of all the transactions completed by our team this year utilise our combined specialist technical knowledge and commercial appreciation as well as drawing on our in-house planning expertise.”

Lodders Real Estate team acts for national and regional commercial property developers, residential property developers, investment companies and funders nationwide. It has consistently been recognised with top rankings for its real estate work from both the Legal 500 Guide and Chambers UK legal directories.
