Chamber board appointment heralds global vision

An exciting new appointment to the Board of the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce has just been announced, with the Managing Director of Global Freight taking the twelfth seat at the Board Table.

Nicole Howarth has headed up the firm since its launch in 1996 and has specialist knowledge of the export process gained through hands-on experience of managing a thriving business in the sector for almost 16 years, as well as formal qualifications including a Diploma in Export Management and an Advanced Certificate in Overseas Trade.

“We were eager to invite Nicole to join our Board” explained Richard Sheehan, Managing Director of the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, “as we all felt that her knowledge, combined with her passion for local business, and her fresh approach would be of real benefit to the organisation as a whole, as well as to our Members specifically. We recently won the International Trade Delivery for Shropshire and will be starting our work in April 2012, so Nicole’s appointment could not have been better timed” he added.

Nicole’s company, Global Freight, is an independent, specialist freight forwarder and won a Shropshire Business Award in 2010 for Best Small Business. Offering a range of services relating to worldwide freight logistics and transportation, the company embraces the latest technology to support its clients with importing, exporting and cross trade, while also providing assistance with customs formalities, warehousing and packing.

“I was delighted to be approached by the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and asked to join the Board” explained Nicole, “and I very much look forward to assisting businesses across the county to exploit export opportunities. We have some fantastic companies in our region however many of them are still seeing barriers to moving outside the domestic market. I know that the Board is committed to helping break down these obstacles and I’m determined to do all I can to assist” she concluded.

Nicole’s appointment has been approved by the Chamber’s Board and she is currently going through a formal induction process.
