The first shop has opened at one of the UK’s largest regeneration projects in West Cornwall, designed to breathe life into the former tin mining community.

The ‘Traditional Baltic Food’ store which opened on 21st May is located on Robinson Street off Trevenson Road at Pool near Redruth.

The shop is owned and run by Jolita Kazlauskaite and her partner Mantas Borisevicius and sells Eastern European food as well as the staple goods you’d find in your local supermarket

The business occupies one unit on a purpose built parade of 3 units at the centre of the ‘Homes@Heartlands’ development at Pool. The development provides 96 homes and 30 apartments.

The shop is one of 3 units which are suitable for a variety of uses including cafe, takeaway, shop or even offices.

Trevenson Park South is the site of one of the first housing schemes in the country to be delivered under the Homes and Communities Agency’s (HCA) Public Land Initiative.

Under the scheme, the HCA provides land for development, removing part of the costs and risk for private developers, in this case Linden Homes.

Costing £4.3m, the new Trevenson Park South access road and boulevard are part of a larger package of schemes in the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area, which is valued at more than £9m and benefits from a contribution of £5m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Convergence Programme.

Miller Commercial Chartered Surveyors are marketing the new Commercial Properties on the development and have been involved with the build since it began 2 years ago.

The company’s Head of Agency, Mike Nightingale says “It’s rewarding to see the first business taking occupation at Trevenson Road. The adjacent units present good opportunities for other businesses to gain a foothold in an up and coming area.”
