Lodders’ Real Estate practice grows again

Josy Haigh & James Mottram

The top ranking Real Estate team of Midlands law firm Lodders continues its hiring spree this month with the appointment of Josy Haigh.

With over 15 years’ experience in the legal sector, Josy has held public sector, private practice and in-house positions, most recently as Property and Contracts lawyer at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, previously as Senior Legal Officer at Coventry City Council, and two years in the Commercial Property and Commercial Contracts Team at Huddersfield firm Eaton Smith Solicitors.

In the new role, Josy is working alongside Partner James Mottram, a specialist in residential development who is well-known amongst the UK’s major housebuilders and acts on large residential development deals across the UK.

She is the third fee earner to join the Real Estate team this year – Lodders appointed Ravinder Heer and Scott Parmenter as Paralegals in February, working with Partners Alastair Frew and Steven Baker respectively.

Lodders’ Real Estate team is now 18-strong, with six partners including team head Nick East. It is one of the main players in residential development transactions in the Midlands with clients including CALA Homes, Cameron Homes and Spitfire Properties LLP.

The team also acts on behalf of national and regional commercial property developers, investment companies and funders, and last month advised on one of the biggest industrial investment property deals so far this year.

Commenting on Josy’s appointment, James Mottram said: “The team has had an exceptionally busy start to 2016, and Josy joins as instructions continue to grow, with the number and scale of new developments taking a noticeable upturn.”

Josy, who lives in Warwick, brings substantial experience of property dispute resolution, leasehold tenancies, commercial property and residential property development transactions. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. She adds:

“Whilst in-house at two local authorities, I worked with Lodders’ Real Estate team, and experienced its professionalism and competency, and learnt of the size, scale and nature of the work and organisations it works with.

“James specialises in residential development transactions, with sector-leading advice on every stage of property transactions, from negotiation through to completion, and acts for an impressive portfolio of major housebuilders in the Midlands and across the UK. This is a great opportunity for me to continue my professional development.”

Lodders Real Estate practice received top level Tier 1 ranking in the latest Legal 500 professional directory, and boasts a team of highly experienced, accomplished and skilful legal specialists who work with many of the UK’s largest property owners, developers and investors handling £multi-million value transactions.
