Welsh cyber-security specialists Capital Network Solutions (CNS) has successfully certified its 100th Cyber Essentials customer, establishing the company as one of the biggest certification bodies in the UK.
The Cyber Essentials scheme is a UK Government certification that allows businesses to demonstrate their cyber-security credentials to key stakeholders such as customers and supply chain partners.
The UK Government now requires organisations to prove their compliance with the scheme in order to bid for government contracts, as do the Welsh Government, Ministry of Defence and some NHS departments. A new report also reveals plans to include Cyber Essentials certification in insurers’ risk assessments for SMEs [1].
Cyber-crime is an increasing issue throughout the UK and is estimated to cost the British economy up to £34 billion every year [2]. With a number of smaller companies increasingly being targeted due to poor cyber-security processes, the Cyber Essentials scheme has been introduced to ensure smaller organisations are better placed to deal with the threat of cyber-crime.
Capital Network Solutions is an IASME accredited Cyber Essentials Plus certification body, and has been providing certification training and support since November 2014.
After reaching a century of Cyber Essentials certifications, Capital Network Solutions has established itself as one of the largest certification bodies in the UK.

Alongside its ongoing Cyber Essentials commitments, Capital Network Solutions has also launched a new service for the legal sector called LawGuard. The service is based on the Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, and will provide better protection to the legal sector, which has become a large target for cyber-crime due to the sensitive information these companies store.
Discussing LawGuard, Mark said: “The UK Legal sector has been under increasing scrutiny from cyber-criminals, and with the amount of information that is now stored online, cyber-breaches can cost hundreds of thousands of pounds and permanently damage reputations.
