Property consultancy Myddelton & Major is continuing upward growth with the promotion of two senior staff members to Partner status.

The independent Salisbury-based firm of chartered surveyors and estate agents has named Peter Sammons and Alastair Brain in new roles.

Peter is part of the commercial department’s Management and Professional Team, and Alastair is currently Residential Lettings Manager.

Myddelton & Major Senior Partner Philip Holford has praised the two men after announcing the new appointments at the long established High Street-based firm.

He said: “These two promotions are thoroughly deserved and are testament to the performance, hard work and dedication to the business demonstrated by Peter and Alastair.

“With both the commercial and residential sectors showing an upturn at present, the Myddelton & Major practice is developing accordingly.

“These new roles will help ensure we continue to provide the personal, efficient and effective service for our clients for which we are renowned.”

Peter, 38, who is married with one child and lives in Salisbury, has been with Myddelton & Major for six years.

The experienced chartered surveyor, an RICS Registered Valuer, is actively involved in managing West Wilts Trading Estate, Westbury, and advises clients on property management matters and asset management issues.

A keen sportsman, Peter ran a marathon for the Livability charity in 2014 and cycled the British Heart Foundation 100-miles South Downs Way off road event last year.

He said: “I am delighted to have been awarded this promotion. It is brilliant to work for Myddelton & Major and not only see the company grow, but also the region as a whole prosper.”

Alastair, 42, who lives in Ford, near Salisbury with wife Juliet, two daughters and a Labrador, joined the company in 2005.

He was previously an estate agent in Marlborough and also had a career in theatre stage management which included work with Royal Shakespeare Company, Really Useful Company, Chichester Festival Theatre, Bath Theatre Royal, Nuffield Theatre Southampton and Salisbury Playhouse.

A keen tennis player and sailor in his spare time, he is also a trustee for Salisbury City Almshouse and Welfare Charities.

Alastair said: “I am honoured to have been offered the position of Partner. It comes at a time when the housing rental market remains buoyant with demand for quality housing still outstripping supply.”
