Adding extra sparkle to the City

(l-r): John Greed Head of Business Operations Debra Barnes discussing the company’s latest move with Banks Long & Co Director James Butcher.

Lincoln jeweller John Greed is injecting extra sparkle into city centre shopping with a dazzling expansion move.

Chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co reveals it has leased a double fronted retail unit in the city’s Cornhill to the business, which will soon be offering shoppers a bigger than ever choice of fashion and precious jewellery.

Excitingly, John Greed is showing its faith in traditional shopping at a time when the company’s online sales are also going through the roof.

The company’s Head of Business Operations Debra Barnes said: “Lincoln is a great all-round base for our business. Our third shop will complement our current High Street branch and our neighbouring Pandora in the Cornhill.

“In 2014 we moved our company’s headquarters into premises at the Firth Road Business Park in Lincoln.”

John Greed Jewellery offers jewellery-lovers of all ages an enormous choice of traditional and contemporary ranges, but its latest expansion reflects the growing popularity of its own jewellery and two top fashion brands.

“Investing in a third store will enable us to focus on and expand three of our best selling brands; John Greed, Thomas Sabo and Swarovski. Shopfitters are now hard at work transforming our new store.

“Over the next two months, we will also be investing in a major revamp of our High Street shop. It will be closed for 16 weeks and during the refurbishment the Pandora shop will continue to trade as normal,” said Debra.”

“Lincoln continues to grow in prominence as a shopping and tourist destination, which has encouraged us to expand our physical presence in the city.

“Jewellery and watches are no longer simply seen as luxury items and customers love to pop into our stores and take their time browsing and choosing a treat for themselves or a special gift for a friend.

“At the same time, we are delighted to report that our online business (which saw a 300 per cent surge in sales in 2014 – compared with two or three years earlier), is continuing to grow. It now accounts for 80 per cent of our turnover,” added Debra.

Banks Long & Co Director James Butcher said: “We are extremely pleased to have leased the former West Country Pasty Co shop premises in the Cornhill to John Greed, having also leased the company its new headquarters premises in Firth Road so recently.

“It is encouraging to see a Lincoln based business, with local and worldwide customers showing such confidence in High Street retailing.”
