The Crescent, Hinckley, nominated for hat-trick of awards

The Crescent, Hinckley

The Crescent, Hinckley, has been shortlisted for three awards at a major property event.

The development, by the Tin Hat Partnership, which has brought new shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, a gym and a cinema to the town, has made the cut in the East Midlands round of the RICS Awards 2016.

The Crescent is on the shortlist in the commercial, regeneration and tourism & leisure categories at the awards which will be presented on April 21 at a ceremony at Kelham Hall, Newark.

Will Robinson, of the Tin Hat Partnership, said: “We are very pleased to have been shortlisted at the RICS Awards and it’s testament to all of the hard work that has gone into making the Crescent such a success.

“Of course, we would really like the Crescent to pick up an award but the real reward is starting to see the development take shape, to see new stores and outlets opening and to see the difference it is already making to the town centre.”

Construction work started on the Crescent in 2014, with Sainsbury’s, Cineworld and Elbow Room all opening at the end of 2015.

They have since been followed by Wed2B, TK Maxx, the Tarro Lounge and Mobility & Lifestyle while Prezzo, Poundland, Burger King, Costa and Simply Gym are all set to open very soon.

The RICS Awards aims to showcase the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment.

Will added: “It’s been a very exciting start to the year – with reports that Sainsbury’s and Cineworld are trading well, while Tarro Lounge and TK Maxx saw extremely busy openings.

“It all bodes well for the future of the Crescent and being shortlisted for three awards only adds to that.”

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Chief Executive Steve Atkinson said: “Being shortlisted for these awards is a real feather in the cap of the Tin Hat Partnership and the Crescent.

“This development is the catalyst for further economic and commercial vibrancy of Hinckley and the surrounding area. We will build on this opportunity over the next few years.”
