At your convenience – first anniversary in new office

Two Portsmouth businesses are set to celebrate the first anniversary of an unusual building project to convert disused public toilets into offices.

Brewers The Lettings Agency (TLA) is marking its first 12 months at its new base in Drayton, which was designed by McAndrew Martin chartered surveyors, engineers and architectural design specialists.

Brewers TLA saw 15% growth year on year after moving to its new premises in Lower Drayton Lane from Cosham High Street in 2015.

Ian Lee, a director at McAndrew Martin, said: “Our congratulations go to Brewers TLA on a tremendous first year in their new home.

“We’re proud to have played our part in this superb new development which has brought an empty building back into life and brought more business into the area.”

Brewers TLA also created a completely separate toilet for community use as part of the £70,000 scheme. The scheme included renovation of the existing block and the addition of a first floor.

Daryn Brewer, managing director at Brewers TLA, said: “Clients and visitors have all commented on how great the new offices look. The move has helped the business onto the next level with 15% growth on the year before.

“The first anniversary party will give us the chance to thank our staff, clients, business associates, McAndrew Martin for their superb support and the community for giving us such a warm welcome.”

James Bengree, who is based at McAndrew Martin’s offices on the Fairway Business Centre in Portsmouth, designed the new offices. The scheme included a refurbished ground floor and completely new first floor.

Portsmouth City Council sold the freehold of the public toilets after closing them in November 2013.
