Business leaders across Wales are being invited to enter the IoD Wales Director of the Year Awards 2016.

The awards, now in their sixth year, have become an established highlight on the Welsh business calendar and celebrate business achievements across Wales while bringing all sectors of the business community together, irrespective of size, region and age.

Winners from the Welsh regional awards will be put forward for the IoD National awards which culminate in an Awards Lunch in London in the autumn of 2016. Entrants for the awards will compete across ten categories in total.

Last year, Welsh success was celebrated at a UK level for a second year in a row with Welsh winner Rhian Bowen-Davies from Calan Domestic Violence Services announced as the overall UK Winner in the Not for Profit/Third Sector category.

The deadline for nominations is February 29th and March 31st for entries, with winners announced at the awards lunch on Friday, May 20th at Cardiff’s SWALEC Stadium.

Robert Lloyd Griffiths, Director of Institute of Directors in Wales said: “In 2016 we celebrate the sixth year of the IoD Wales Director of the Year Awards. The profile of these awards continue to exceed expectations as they attract entries from the very best in Wales.

“We would like to invite you to apply or indeed nominate a director in your organisation or from your business network. The awards praise business achievements across Wales and the calibre of our winners over the last six years has been outstanding. We want to champion success and highlight inspired business leadership throughout Wales.

“I am also delighted that Cardiff Business School has chosen to continue as our headline sponsor, especially as I’m an alumnus of the School. Thank you to Professor Kitchener for his continued support.”

At this year’s awards categories include: Director in a Medium/Large Business – sponsored by Lloyds Bank; Young Director of the Year – sponsored by Tidal Lagoon (Swansea Bay) plc; Director in a Small Business – sponsored by Wessex Garages; Director in a Social Enterprise or Charity sponsored by Legal & General; Director in the Public Sector sponsored by Academi Wales; Director in a Family Business (sponsorship available); Director for Leadership in Corporate Responsibility – sponsored by the Welsh Government; Talent & Innovation Award sponsored by ACCA; Chairman’s Award sponsored by headline sponsors Cardiff Business School.

Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean of Cardiff Business School said: “We are delighted to once again be the headline sponsor for the IoD Wales Director of the Year Awards. This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the successes of Welsh businesses over the past year. I have attended these awards since their inception and am always inspired by nominees’ innovation and ambition.

The two main aims of Cardiff Business School’s strategy of delivering Public Value are to extend our contributions towards economic and social improvement.  In pursing this strategy, we are committed to strengthening the relationships that we have with the business leaders in Wales, sharing the knowledge that we create. We were delighted with the calibre of last year’s IoD Wales Director of the Year Awards and would like to wish all nominees every success.”
