Bristol business offers to light up sky for Queen

A Bristol firework company is doing its bit to ensure celebrations in and around the city for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations go with a bang.

Skyburst is staging displays the length and breadth of the UK but would like to see Bristol and North Somerset give other regions a run for their money.

And to help the party really sizzle Skyburst is offering a helping hand to firework planners by giving them twice as many fireworks than they pay for if they have a display in the area that will use between £1,000 and £5,000 of pyrotechnics.

“Bristol and North Somerset have loyally supported us for the past 30 years,” said Skyburst managing director Alan Christie.

“That’s why we are making this gesture just around our home patch. In effect, we’re offering £2,000 worth of fizz and bang for every £1,000 spent.”

Skyburst, based in Upper Langford and who have a shop in Nelson Parade, Bedminster, are currently sourcing new fireworks in China especially for the Jubilee.

“I know we’re biased but we’d have a real sense of pride to see the city out-sparkle other parts of the country,” added Alan.

“Firework displays will be planned by many, but we want to set the South West apart and give everybody a year to remember.

“There’s a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment and it’s important we still all manage to have some fun.”

Skyburst, the largest suppliers of professional firework displays in the UK, have fired more than 8000 major national and international displays.

“There will be a lot of red, white and blue, sparkly diamond effects and fire writing at the Jubilee celebrations.

“We can even match the display to music, so if you want Diamonds are Forever or God Save the Queen we can do it for you.”

Last month the company were hired to create a display to mark the end of the Chinese New Year in the city of Liuyang in the Hunan Province in China.

Skyburst is a member of the British Pyrotechnic Association (BPA) that represents the majority of the UK’s professional firework display companies.
