Birmingham enterprise zone expansion matches city’s growing ambition

Commercial property consultant Vail Williams has given a warm welcome to the Chancellor’s announcement in the Autumn Statement that the Birmingham Enterprise Zone is to be expanded into the Curzon Street area.

Carole Taylor, Vail Williams Partner, commented: “The Birmingham Enterprise Zone has given a welcome shot in the arm to the city’s impressive economic transformation since the economic slowdown, so confirmation of its expansion is good news.

“The benefits of simplified planning and business rates discounts within the enlarged zone will be felt more widely as the positive effects also energise surrounding areas, creating opportunity, investment and jobs.

“We have already seen a lot of improvement in this area with the Goodman’s Eastside Locks development, the new accommodation for Birmingham City University and the prestigious Hotel La Tour.”

“Curzon Street is the intended home for the HS2 station, and economic momentum will only increase now it is part of the Birmingham Enterprise Zone. It’s a real opportunity for businesses to get advice and make plans.”
